The Olive & Oak Method™

Root. Restore. Strengthen. Thrive.

Four phases, taken in order. Understand what’s happening, rebuild what’s depleted, strengthen what comes next, and keep it.

Functional medicine gets a bad reputation when it becomes a pile of supplements and a theory. The Method exists to prevent that: a defined sequence, with data at every step, so you always know which phase you’re in, what we’re trying to accomplish, and how we’ll know whether it worked.

Phase one

Root

“Find the root, not just the symptom.”

We begin by slowing down. The first visit is long on purpose: your full history, the timeline of when things changed, what you’ve already tried, what your days actually look like, and what you want back.

Then we test — comprehensively. Hormones and thyroid, metabolic and inflammatory markers, nutrient status, and where indicated, functional gut and stress-rhythm testing. Not because more data is automatically better, but because patterns only become visible when you can see the whole system at once.

Nothing gets prescribed before it’s understood. That single discipline prevents most of the churn people arrive here exhausted by.

What this phase includes

  • Extended intake: history, timeline, symptoms, goals
  • Comprehensive hormone, thyroid and metabolic panels
  • Nutrient, inflammatory and cardiometabolic markers
  • Functional gut, cortisol or specialty testing when indicated
  • A results visit where every number gets explained

Phase two

Restore

“Restore what your body has been missing.”

Most people don’t need more inputs. They need the right ones, in the right order. Restoration begins with whatever is most depleted and most upstream — often sleep, iron or vitamin D, thyroid function, blood-sugar stability, or a hormone that has quietly dropped.

We sequence deliberately: two or three changes at a time, long enough to see an effect, then retest. Hormone therapy, nutrient repletion, gut work, and nutrition adjustments are introduced where the data supports them and paused where it doesn’t.

This phase is also where we subtract. Overlapping supplements and redundant prescriptions get reviewed and simplified.

What this phase includes

  • Hormone and thyroid therapy where clinically indicated
  • Targeted nutrient repletion based on your labs
  • Gut restoration protocols and food reintroduction
  • Sleep, circadian and stress-load repair
  • Supplement and medication simplification
  • Retesting on a defined schedule

Phase three

Strengthen

“Build health that lasts.”

Once the foundation holds, the work changes character. It stops being about repair and starts being about capacity: muscle, strength, aerobic fitness, cognition, recovery, and resilience under real-world load.

Here we set measurable targets — body composition, strength benchmarks, VO₂ max where it can be assessed, and longevity biomarkers — and choose tools to match. For some patients that includes peptide therapy or regenerative options, evaluated honestly and monitored properly. For others, it is training structure, protein and recovery.

We are conservative about anything with thin evidence and clear about which category a recommendation falls into.

What this phase includes

  • Body composition and strength targets
  • Peptide therapy evaluation, dosing and monitoring
  • Recovery, joint and injury support protocols
  • Cognitive and cardiometabolic performance work
  • Longevity biomarker tracking over time

Phase four

Thrive

“Feeling better is the beginning.”

The point was never the lab report. It was the ordinary Tuesday — waking up rested, thinking clearly at 3pm, training without paying for it all week, feeling steady when life isn’t.

In this phase, visits move to a maintenance cadence and the work becomes stewardship: periodic retesting, seasonal adjustment, preventive screening, and adapting the plan as your life and physiology change. Progress that can’t be maintained isn’t progress.

And when something shifts again — as it does — you already have a clinician who knows your baseline, your history, and your trend lines.

What this phase includes

  • Maintenance visits at a sustainable cadence
  • Scheduled retesting and trend review
  • Preventive screening and long-range risk planning
  • Seasonal and life-stage plan adjustments
  • Secure messaging access between visits

How the phases fit together

A year of care, roughly

Timelines vary with the person and the findings — this is the shape it usually takes.

Wk 1–3

Root

Discovery call, extended intake, comprehensive testing, and a results visit with your written plan.

Mo 1–4

Restore

Sequenced interventions with close follow-up, then retesting to confirm direction before adding more.

Mo 4–9

Strengthen

Performance, body composition, cognition and longevity work built on a stable foundation.

Ongoing

Thrive

Maintenance visits, periodic retesting, preventive planning, and adjustment as life changes.
